MINE!!!
I suppose that many of us believe the weekends, especially the long ones, to be the nostrum for the grind of the week – I know that is what is in my head as the weekend approaches. Perhaps that was true in my youth when my batteries had and endless capacity to recharge. Now I wonder if it is that my expectations have expanded or my capacity to execute has diminished – perhaps it is both.
In all reality, Vulpine Manor has benefited from our labors (whether or not the list was completed) and already the list for next weekend has begun. There will be plenty of time for lounging as the weather comes into its summer scorch. Meanwhile the extra rain we are getting and the high humidity has caused exponential growth and cutting must happen lest we fall behind the jungle swell. Some of you might remember the insurmountable vegetation that we faced when we first moved here. I’m proud to say that we are far better off now and NEVER want to go back there again.
I’m yawning so I should claim my pillow. Speaking of claims, I’ll leave you with these:
MINE! ALL MINE!!!

These guys are fast! Even at a shutter speed of 1/400 they blur!

(too bad he's not happy here, huh?)

Oh, three day weekends... the bliss is in the anticipation. They're gone all too quickly.
Hey, wait a minute, did YOU have a three day weekend this past weekend? Why? Or did I misunderstand that? Our three day is coming up...
Great pics as always. Yeah, Gryphon doesn't look one bit of happy. Funny, one of our cats was lying about like that smooshed up against a wall today. :)
Long weekends seems to be nothing but an excuse for the banks to close and keep your money these days :p
We had an acrobatic squirrel like that here too a couple of years ago. They can be very smooth when they want something badly, and bird seeds seems to be a favorite...lol
Gryphon looks like he's settled down pretty good...lol....occupying the entire floor and everything.
Hope you had a good weekend too :D
So what exactly does he have stashed in the fridge?
"I sit here amazed at all the things on the list that didn’t get done" - you made me laugh out loud (says the Queen of Lists-Yet-to-be-Done-With!). :-)
Jeanette ~ We are only working a 4 day week - our 4 day weekend is coming up too.
Christa ~ Wait! Does someone have money to keep in the bank???? ;)
Noonie ~ Its where all his veggies are that get mixed with his kibble and the bones from the butcher. Mostly I think he like the hum or the draft.
Merisi ~ I wondered who'd relate! :)
He's airing out his bum...didn't you know that fridges are multi-functional??
My to-do list is in a perpetual state. Adding on, finishing, re-arranging. But life is good.
I do think you need to make that long trip again and return that poor unhappy dog!
I went to the older post, and I must say, you had a job back then. I know that things grow at break-neck speeds in the part of the country you're in. But I'll take few pix to show you what I'm battling, and you'll feel you had a cinch! Where you have thick, tangled grass, I have scrub oak. Where you use a lawnmower, I need a brush hog! I can't afford that, so I use a weed whacker with a metal blade! It takes forever and is not at all fun. Count your blessings! LOL!
I love that cheeky little squirrel. He deserves a taste of that suet. :)
I know all about batteries that don't recharge as quickly as they used to. I need more than a wekend to recover from my work week!
Foliage that grows too fast due to much rain is what I dealt with today, too. I cut 3-4 feet off the tops of my forsythias, since they are in a place where we need to see over and around them, I can't let them go completely wild, as I would like. Actually, they should not have been planted where they were (not by me) since they get way too big for the area.
I have one of those same squirrel feeders and the darn things climb right past it on the tree. The wrens and redbirds love it though!
At first I thought it said Gryphons fudge. "You guys make him fudge," I wondered? LOL! (Gotta get my contacts changed & soon ;)
Wow, Seamus! And to think that I felt relieved to sleep in and see a movie. I need to start that list making routine again. I'm just sort of afraid that the list making would take over the doing time. :-)
Those are some pretty darn good pictures. Loved the squirrel! Gryphon looks like he knows he's got his people wrapped around his paw and grin. Does he leap high for balls bounced on the ground? Has he learned to track sents yet?
I'm going to turn on my new energy source and wish you and yours a, "Good evening!"
Cheers!
Lee
As we age our energy just isn't what it use to be. I think we need more 3 days weekends to sleep.
I'm falling in love with that big clown you call Gryphon...what a character! We have a squirrel or two we feed in the woods and they act exactly the same way...I keep waiting for them to show up at the back door, bowl in hand, demanding breakfast time be moved back to coincide with daylight savings time...to bad for them, I'm not getting out of my warm bed at 5 for the likes of them! You know, my younger son calls it McBride's Law...poor old Murph doesn't even get a look in!
Great piece, Seamus...was so glad to see you stopped by!
Sandi
oh my goodness, each of those pictures really does shout, "MINE!" the squirrel cracks me up, the hummingbirds amaze me, and gryphon really is a shameless if possessive flirt, isn't he?
glad you've been able to keep some of the jungle at bay. i get tired imagining the amount of work you must have put in on your gorgeous property.
Glad you found me through David, and thanks for the comment, always appreciated.
Love your photos! Love Gryphon! Obviously I'll be returning. Appreciate the humor!
I was born and grew up in Texas, my oldest son lives in Dallas, but I've lived in the the northwest for the past 16 years, first Portland and the last two in Ballard. It is a great place.
those are some great pics, you must have been quick with the camera!
