Just a matter of time

The weeks are flying by now that there is work life again. Between work, home projects and the summer maintenance at Casa Vulpini the day’s remainder is a cursory glance at the laptop as I’m heading to bed. The trip past the desk is usually followed by a thought along the lines of, “I’ll write tomorrow. I’ll check the sphere tomorrow as soon as I get home…yadda, yadda, yadda.” Yeah, right! Sigh!

A few bullets:

  • The deck project is moving along, but has presented its share of big challenges. Not the least is the record heat and the western sun is fully on the deck in the afternoon – relentless until after 7 and it moves behind the trees. There were also some structural entanglements that had to be overcome. Funny how cocky I was several weeks ago thinking I had “PLENTY” of time before the kids arrive mid-August. HA! I’m also getting used to a new hidden attaching system for the deck boards – a steep learning curve. The curved oriental steps and planters that integrate the deck with the front porch will probably have to wait until company is gone and we’ll make do with some temporary steps while they are here.
  • No deck pics until the deck is completed – you’ll just have to wait! ;)
  • I keep seeing the fox kits, but only late at night when photos aren’t an option. They are growing up so fast! They’ll stay with the parents until fall and then they wander off to seek their fame and fortune.
  • The cat bibs are still working, although Zoë has slipped her bib. We lost a titmouse within a few days. New bib on the way!
  • The house is a fruit-basket-turnover in preparation for an invasion of small children. It’ll be a fun visit.
  • I got an e-mail from David McMahon at Authorblog to let me know he was publishing an interview with me. If you’re interested here is the link: Interview or you can just go visit David’s wonderful blog.
  • I miss my free time! :(

This was in the bathtub! "B" was cleaning the tub and turned her head and was eyeball to eyeball with Darth Scale! We figured it scurried in while the garage doors were opened. To give you a sense of proportion, Darth Scale was photographed in the bottom of a 1 gallon glass jug. It was released in Walter's rockery - far, far from the house. It was really quite pretty, click the pic to enlarge.

See! It was worth getting all the way to the end! LOL!
