Two words … and then two more … and then two …

But 1st, Samantha's new spot! She waits here every morning until I get up!

...and Zoë Mad Cat!

now:

1. NEW
2. JOB

As if I didn’t have a lot to do already!

So … after 2½ years of marching to my own drum I’ve re-entered the foray. It hasn’t been as traumatizing as I thought it would be; although I’m sure getting most everything I asked for in a job has helped soften the re-entry. Commute, or lack thereof, was tied for 1st along with “interesting work”. As it happens the job is the closest legitimate business to the house. I’m sure there are several “illegitimate business” in this little rural burg (yes, we can call them burgs without getting shot in this part of Tejas given all the German influence here) like cannabis ranching and such. The “interest” component is served by the fact that it is a company that manufactures some high end photo equipment so it should keep me out of trouble for a while.

I actually feel really grateful for this opportunity.

I’ve had very little time left to play here in the sphere and that will probably remain so for the rest of the summer. I can only say that I’ll do the best that I can with the blog.

1. TOO
2. HOT

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has been bumping 100 degrees every day for what seems like months. 90’s are a cold snap! It has been very different weather this year as compared to last! Now that I’m out and about every day I’ve joined the rousing game of musical shade – you know the game: where you search for any and every shade in a parking lot or street in order to park. There is an old saying in racing that, “rubbin’ is racin’” … well here it is “rubbin’ is shadin’” as we furiously dive for the 4 square inches of shade beside the spindly maple tree in whatever parking lot. It’s kindda like finding a parking spot in NYC, only with a lot less yellow cabs.

1. NO
2. RAIN

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again, a very different year than last year; however, the decided lack of yard maintenance is most welcome – no maintenance because the yard is a tinder box. The shrubs, flowers and endangered trees get water and it gives me something to do in the wee hours while I’m waking up and absorbing caffeine. I do have to water the animals and put out their feed so the plants are just an add-on. We are thinking about putting in a drip irrigation system and recycling our grey water to lessen the demand on the well.

1. F*@$%#G
2. GAS

“CRIMINAL!” ‘nuff said!

It's beyond sad that folks are having to choose between food and gas!

"Tux sux ..."

"... I don't care if it is purple! F$#K%$G food purveyors! What's a nasty ol' bird to them anywho, hmm???"

So, after several presents presented by none other than Voldercat (a.k.a. Sox), said food purveyors (that would be me & B) bound Voldercat in an inescapable enchantment (guest bedroom) and searched far and wide (as wide and far as the first entry on Gobble) and found these handsome (though not from a feline perspective) Cat Bibs. The company guarantees that it reduces bird kills by 85%. Voldercat say she can't catch birds cause they are laughing at her and she's embarrassed to play ... doh! They can still eat, groom, climb, sleep; they just can't catch birds! YAY!!!! So far so good, we're are at 100%!

She does look kindda cute, doesn't she?

mental bibelot

I was reminded of this poem recently, one of my favorites. Seems to support my notion of justifiable complexity.

The First Rule
of Sinhalese
Architecture

Never build three doors
in a straight line

A devil might rush
through them
deep into your house,
into your life
